Snow LookDev and Breakdown by Caio Pimentel using Autodesk Maya, Arnold, Nuke:

Taking a step foward after my submission to Shaders.xyz, I made a lot of ajustments to fine tune the lookdev for it to behave the best way possible in different light scenarios and camera angles and, in addition, I managed to do all lookdev aspects fully procedural (using the powerfull AlShaders). I’m really still not satisfayed, but I think this is as far as I can push it for now not taking a volumetric approach.

There are a ton of light transport subtleties and other snow details that were impossible to create (when taking a more production friendly approch) using the mesh that I’d used instead of volume to create snowflakes.
